Episode 22: Seizing the Moment to Find Success with Candy Evans

Sam sits down with friend and neighbor Candy Evans, Founder of CandysDirt.com and SecondShelters.com , and one of the most influential people in residential real estate. Three words describe Candy’s work ethic and success: Determination, Persistence and Efficiency.

After earning her Masters in journalism from Columbia University, Candy set off on her journalistic journey. Starting in TV news, she eventually made her way to Dallas. While at DMagazine, Candy started a blog called ‘DallasDirt’, where ‘nosey’ proved beneficial. Her blog eventually garnered global response with a single post breaking the news of President George W Bush’s relocation to Dallas. Capitalizing on the moment, Candy leveraged the visibility to start CandysDirt, an extremely successful North Texas newsite that has gained national recognition and thousands of daily readers. She also writes for Forbes.com.

In part 1 of our series, Candy shares what she sees in the current housing market and how being ‘snoopy’ gets the scoop (or dirt, rather) on where people are moving and why. She also gives us a preview of her next adventure running for Dallas City Council. The election is May 1, 2021.

In our sit down together, Candy asks the question, “What is the architectural style of Dallas?” Feel free to answer her at news@candysdirt.com.
