Episode 23: Hunting, gathering… and letting it go with CRE investment sales pioneer and author, Jack Minter.

Sam sits down with numbers cruncher turned capital markets guru, Jack Minter.

After a youthful stint working for a Veterinarian, Jack quickly realized his passion lived elsewhere.  His career path started after graduating from ACU with an accounting degree, followed by his first job as a CPA in Tax and Arthur Anderson in Houston. Things get really interesting from here.

Enter the world of CRE…

As an analyst at the Horne Co in Houston, Jack began selling buildings. During his CRE tenure, working for C&W, Rubloff, CBRE, Cushman Realty, JLW, LaSalle, Credit Suisse First Boston, he got his series 64, 47, 24 and 32, did some investment banking, went to TCC then JLL (2nd time)…’went through at least 8 different mergers and acquisitions.

In part 1 of our series with Jack, he shares insights into human behavior during uncertain times; ‘there are 7 year cycles, but people have 5 year memories…there are always RE segments during any part of a cycle where investors seize the moment..cycles generate different opportunities’ We discuss why people are moving into CRE, but for very different reasons today.

Jack has had two books published (not related to CRE, purely out of interest; he’s a voracious reader!) He is also an avid, record holding hunter and fisherman.
